Get the one piece manifold adapter. The 3 piece stack manifold is crap. Hard to make vacuum tight.
I run electric choke but manual will work. It’s just 1 more knob and cable cluttering up the dash, so why bother.

I also recommend the 1 piece adapter. I havent had an issue with the 2 piece BUT to avoid any potential issues id go one piece. For convenience i went with the electric choke too. Be ready to get real familiar with the carb, setting it up can be a pain but once you have it set right you should have no issues

Transdapt is the company that makes the one piece. It can take forever to get. When I ordered mine by the time I got an email saying it was another month out I had already bought and received twin sidedrafts.

If you know any local carb shops you can get it for less. 250 for a manual chock and about 300 for the electric most places.

I’m almost positive it is the 20R manifold.
I just uploaded a photo of the bay

Almost looks like through holes so you could ditch a piece maybe if you had the 22r. I remember someone saying the smog legal carb kit came with just a one piece adapter.

That was me. And yes, the smog legal Weber kit from Redline has a one-piece adapter for the 20R. I bought (but not yet installed) a kit for my 1979 Celica recently. I was going to post that fact in this thread but:
    1. Not sure if the carb is set up like a non-smog legal Weber (jets, venturis, etc.), and
    2. OP mentioned manual or electric choke which I'm not sure is available with smog-legal carb. I think my kit uses the coolant temp auto choke.

Looking at the adaptor, I don't see why a two-piece adaptor is even necessary...

Screw rhe adapter, get the manofold. Canon or Offenhauser, I've had both in the past. Offy offered a dual plane for the 22R that separated the primary and seconday completely and actually made for a more street friendly operation. I think Edelbrock had one available as well.

That's a bit of an expensive opinion. Could always fill and have a machinist drill and tap the new bolt pattern. The adapters do act as a spacer helping keep the fuel in the bowl from boiling though.

I adapted a 22R mani to a Weber. Bolts weren"t too bad but the mani had to be cut to fit the Weber's throttle bores. The manifolds were much better, and worth the extra bucks.
