    Hi all,

I have to drop my A340e transmission and was wondering if y'all had any advice. The truck is currently a foot in the air on jack stands. I've got a floor jack, and 2 bottle jacks, and am wondering what the best way to go about this is.
Today I will drain the fluid, remove the driveshaft, and disconnect the cooler lines. After that...

One of the best tricks is to use the hole in the tunnel with a bar and ratchet strap to hold the tail of the transmission up.

Oh snap! Thats not a bad idea. I had considered ratchet straps in the back actually.

I ended up using my floor jack in the back, and two bottle jacks, one L and one R in the front. That allowed me to tilt and twist things.

I had planned on dropping the trans to get things sorted out with the flexplate spacers and install my transgo shift kit. After looking at the instructions for the shift kit I realized it was waaaay beyond my comprehension. So I ended up just pushing the trans like 6" back to get between the flexplate and torque converter. When I save up the money I will go to a trans shop to get the kit installed.

For now things are running alright, I've got 6.4 miles on the odometer for the new setup.

Good call. Better to have a seasoned hand install gofast parts! Best part is, you never get dirty! Haha so I'm guessing this thread will probably be dead now since oem for the win! :drunk:

Oh, dirty? My elbows need scrubbing pretty badly! Next time I will get some folks to do it for me and charge them a daily gym rate. Geeeeeez that was a workout!

Anyone wants to drop their trans themselves? Good on ya!
