Anyone put a 22re into a 75-78 and find a set of long tube headers that fit and don't end under the trans cross member?

Never done it myself, sorry. Are you looking for a 4-1 or a 4-2-1 style header? If you're looking for the 4-2-1 I suggest you look into a Stan's Header vs the Doug Thorley, it's way shorter which may allow you to go custom pipe to get around obstacles. You could also keep stock exhaust manifold (which is 4-2-1) and upgrade from the Y-pipe back (what I did in my 93 pickup). I drove a pickup with a 4-1 header and noticed it lacked more oomph at takeoff/low RPMs, could have also been the wide open larger diameter exhaust in addition.

Got myself LCE shorty headers..the long tubes one will give you an issue with fitting (so I've read) especially if you plan on dropping or if already dropped
