Hello everyone I am new here and I am looking for some opinions. I am looking to lower my truck the right way. Later I will be going with bags but rn I'm looking to go static. Ok here we go, I already have the 3in drop blocks and Belltech drop shocks. I am looking at Belltech drop spindles, Belltech lowering leaf spring, and DJM lower control arms. I guess my question is, is that the proper way to lower it?
Not tell maybe end of next year I have other plans for the truck before I bag it, such as a engine swap...
I wana say to hold off on drop leafs and drop arms. Cant use them when you bag it. Blocks are cheap enough. And drop spindles will be good when you bag. Save that $
Good insight, also when you use drop leafs you need shorter shocks, but can keep the old ones with just blocks. What engine are you thinking of swapping in?
I would for some reason love to drop a 7MGTE but they are kinda hard to find. So I am currently stuck between a 1JZ and a 1UZ. I have the drop shocks so I’m covered there. Another question for you guys, have you ever heard of Cosmis Wheels? I like the look just don’t know if they are any good.
Your headed the right way! I rode static dropped for 4 years while working on my build, knowing I was going to go with air suspension. I first changed out the front fenders so the wheels had clearance & the fenders matched the rear bed, than Beltech dropped spinals to keep the geometry correct, I did use 2'' dropped leafs with 2' angle blocks, but that meant doing the rear notch ahead of schedule. I used Cando's 8 piece notch so as to be able to get welded on the inside as well as the outside! I run Doestech shocks at all 4 corners & I went with Cando tubular a-arms, as I wanted the front strut bars gone so can lay the truck out. I did not z the frame I'm not bodied dropped! Do your research & you will have a dependable ride.
7M are hard to find for a reason, they came in one car ever (Mk III Supra) and they blow their head gaskets chronically. That's why the 1JZ exists, and it's far superior anyway.
There's an 87 7M non-turbo in a parts car near me for $500. They say engine turns but doesn't start. https://www.ksl.com/classifieds/listing/50644347
