Looking at buying OEM fender mirrors from Japan. Confused by the breakdown by year.

    87940-89111 for 08.1978 - 08.1981 (LN30,40,RN30,31,40,41..GEN,PHL
    FENDER TYPE)

    87940-39265 for 08.1981 - 07.1983 (LN30,40,RN30,31,40,41..GEN
    FENDER TYPE)

The 81-83's are twice as much money. Fenders are the same, are they not? Only difference in the description is PHL) Anyone have any thoughts what the differnce could be?

I'm only as good as the info I can find. If the part looks right, the box might be wrong. There's a possibility the info I found is wrong. It's some old stuff. I personally buy the stuff from Thailand that was molded off the originals, or at least look like they were. I save a huge amount, and any small issues can usually be taken care of with a razor blade.

Just my opinion, but that's a ridiculous price to pay for just the right hand mirror. Search for RN30 (or RN40) fender mirrors, and you'll come up with a lot of great options (obviously not NOS). Sure, buying NOS is nice to a point, but eBay has been filled with a lot of knockoffs claiming to be originals that aren't. If I ain't buying it straight from Japan from a parts shop I trust, or a guy I can go see in person, I don't believe in NOS all that much.

Wasn't thinking of paying that!! Was just trying to figure out part numbers. Was going to try amayama.com. Have read reasonable reviews. They have 87940-89111 for $30 US with reasonable shipping. Not looking for a stubby tho. 87940-39265 is $70. Getting up there, but may be worth it. I hear what you are saying about the Thailand stuff, but it can be hit and miss. Just want to be sure I am comparing the right things

If what you find turns out to be made of metal, let me know. I'd like to upgrade mine. The ones I got from Thailand (for like 35 shipped) are plastic, obviously cheap plastic, but fit the beat-to-shit look of the truck for the time being.
