I've seen plenty of 4x4 Toyotas here in Riverside County, but I'm wondering where they get the kits, how much they cost, and how/where they get it done... Any ideas. I hate the torsion bars, at least on mine, my 4x4 seems to ride like a tank... maybe it could be the fact that they were jacked up by it's original owner. Don't know. Still new to my Toyota, even though I've had the key it for two years.
There is one coil spring susp kit out there, can't remember who makes it. It's $2K or so, and close to that to install if you're not a DYIer. The rest of them are home built or custom shop.
There is a lot of engineering to designing a good 4-link setup, even more to do it right. If you can do metal fab work and have the tools and skills, do some resaearch, there's plenty of "how I did it's" on the web, some good, some bad.
Hey 88 there's tons of kits out there that are made for your truck, long travel kits w/ longer arms w/ or w/o coilovers, complete four link kits made for your truck ready to weld on, the most popular front kit right now is the total chaos caddy kit, they have the option to retain the 4x4 as well, check out kartek or even race-dezert for take offs.
I'll keep my eyes open, thanks. I actually tracked a suspension lift my aunt & uncle's shop can order for me, just need $$$. How much would it cost to get one installed? Kinda getting ideas for whenever I leave my current job.
Installing these kits are generaly easy its the required fab work thats a pain. All long travel kits require some sort of fabing like the enigne cage to mount the coilovers or shocks, and to be honest only a licenced shop should do this for liability purposes, after all its only holding the front of your truck up. They run around $500. just for the cage.
question on coilovers too? but this time i want it lowered and handle like a car, what kit do i need? 85 extra cab hehe 4x2
There is a thread started here about that one. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3408
