Picked up a new bed and tailgate this week. Also stripped the inside of the cab. I haven't decided how I will fix the cab. Figure how my old one is trashed anyway I might try and just replace the roof. If that fails I will swap my cab. And since I have to redo my tailgate and shave it, I'm going to add the Toyota panel I have been saving.

Have a few updates (more on the parts side). Scored a sir Michaels tailgate shave kit off eBay. Also since pickapart was having a half off sale I got a new roof. I figure I will try and fix mine first, then if it doesn't work then I will replace cabs. I also grabbed a strut frame assembly of a prerunner truck, I'm thinking it may give me some extra clearance for my wheels up front.

Nice score at PAP, I was there on Friday and it was packed! overflow parking was in across the street.

Wow... this story is like a soap opera! Truly a sad story. I am glad you never put those cady lights on. They are so played out like lambo doors. Great work though!

Small update, I have since moved the truck into my parents garage where I can work on it. I was able to remove the windshield without breaking it and I then removed the bad sheet metal from the cab. I decided that I would try to replace the roof skin instead of cutting the roof off. I also picked up a Lincoln 140 so I am teaching myself to weld (my best friend is a welder and checking my work). At this point I just have the skin sitting on the truck and i looks way better. I also noticed that my frame is bent on the driver side from the axle back. So I may attempt to fix it or just pickup a new frame.

Is that from the axle banging against the frame? Looks like bump stop bolts mounts on either side of the dent.

Yeah it appears that when the tree landed on that part of the truck it bent the frame over the axle. I'm not exactly sure how much its off but the back two bed bolts are not attached and there is a gap between the mount and the bed.

more likely it's the rear from being too low and axle hits frame, which is why most who lower a lot end up modding the frame for clearance. (edit, nevermind)

nice truck, I think the tailgate mod will look pretty sweet. recently found a pic online where they did similar concept on the rear hatch of a Land Cruiser I think, so Toyota lettering was in the sheet metal.

I picked up a new tailgate at pick a part the other day started working on my raised letter tailgate idea. It still needs to be trimmed down and have the handle shaved, but I think it looks good so far.
