I like regular cab, short bed because it has shorter wheel base of 103" is better for offload (unless you put huge wheels or raise up) for obvious reasons, versus SR5 Xtra cab Long Bed with wheelbase 121.5" that also cost like way more also.

Any regular cab, short bed hilux ever had 4WD option?

If not will stock 4WD fit on that model without much headache.

In case its a big pain how about 4WD from 4Runner its wheelbase is 103" also, does it have exact same 4WD as hilux?

For price estimate what parts i have to purchase to install 4WD to truck that don't have it?
    Transfer Case x1
    Lock hubs x4

Buy a donor truck. Youll save yourself a lit of time trying to piece things together.

Guys have put 4Runner bodies on a 2WD frame. Im sure the opposite can be done

What exactly i need to buy,
    axles x 2,
    differential x 2,
wheel hubs x 2, (would look for manual hubs anyway),

    what else?

Yup. I've done 2wd to 4wd conversions a few times and they aren't bad if you have the parts. All of them I've done were to 89+ so they never came with a solid front axle just ifs. The ifs frame rails are not raised above the axle area lime the 2wd frame is so it's best to start with a 2wd.

yes they are a factory option with that combo. also usually 2wd is MUCH cheaper than an 4wd especially 4wd xcab, on the used market from what I see locally.

in reference to what white trash mentioned - if you plan to make a "wheeler" with a solid front axle, then the 2wd frame is preferred. this is because the shape of the frame is different up front than the 4wd version (more arched), thus you have better clearance for articulation when trying to keep a low center of gravity.

    for 4wd conversion:
both front and rear 4wd axles and all accompanying parts
    new front and rear drivelines
4wd transmission + transfercase (or get a 4wd tail housing to mate t-case)
probably lots of other stuff, but that's the major parts list
