Hello from NC. I am in need of a new hood and had a few questions. My truck says its a rn28 but the hood I found says its for a 1972-1978 rn20. What is the difference in a rn20 and a rn28. My understanding is that 72-78 all change. Any help would be appreciated.

RN2x were all the same body style. 72.5-74 had a different grill/valance/cab than the 75-78. Minor changes to the beds too to accomodate for the changes in the cab aswell. Hood and fenders are interchangeable

 

Thank you for the response. Thats what I thought just needed some clarification.

 

I thought the '75-'78 hoods latch wasn't in the same location as the '72-'74, either further forward or further back? Correct me if I'm wrong, this is just something I've heard.

 

Could be. Since the core support was modified for the newer grille. Wonder if its just a different latch

 

not sure which year yours is vs donor year, but on my truck the PO got a 78 hood to put on my 75 and the washer emitters aren't on the hood.

 

RN28 is a 1978 or early production 1979 ( up to 6/79). Any 1975-78 hood should interchange.
