Stuck in second... Shifter feels loose, like the linkage isn't grabbing. Repair help please!

iirc, it should be a side shift trans with a mount thing on the side, and the bolts in mine would loosen up over time and it would start jarring up and shift really loose. You might check on yours and see.

 

Yessir, I went under there and tightened up everything I could, and that helped a little. It actually feels like its pumping into gears and what not. Buut still is stuck in 2nd. Thought I had it in reverse (what should have been reverse..) and still lurched forward when i took my foot of clutch.

 

this isn't mine obviously, but was the only good pic I could find. Is that panel what i should take off to see what's not moving around?
