Okay so I'd like some info. On the engine pick there is a canister bolted on the firewall on the carb side. Its connected to ac system. But it has on metal line and a rubber line heading under the truck. What is this canister for and is it necessary on the truck.

Do you have any inspections to go through? Or emissions testing?

    If not then no

then no its not 'necessary'. You may experience fuel smell when you remove it.

It's a charcoal canister, unburnt fuel stick to the charcoal and once the evap system does its thing it sends the fuel back, either to the tank or back in the engine.

Yea I'm in the begging stages of it right now. Removed everything I don't need. Its been converted to electronic dist. And msd ignition. I'll get some pics when I get it back. Had it sent off to be fixed. Had a bad throw out bearing, master cylinder , slave cylinder, rear trans seal, and driveshaft support bearing. It def looks better than it did before lol.
