I know back in the day some people had 91-93 Celica mirrors on their truck and I just picked up a set but am baffled as to how they went about mounting them. Are there any old school guys on here that could point me in the right direction?
Funny you bring that up. I have a set off of a 92 celica gts. The holes werent a perfect match so i kept the stock ones. Maybe some redrilling but I try to avoid doing that to my truck as much as possible. I took them off of a truck like mine so I know it's possible.
I think some company made aftermarket versions that fit better? As far as using the real thing, I remember doing some grinding to the frontward point of the mirror mount to round it out a bit, followed by some cutting of the door skin - still ended up with a weird little gap at the bottom rear of the mirror mount, but it wasn't too noticeable since it was on the underside. This was back in 1996 though, so I could be way off
The ones I got have cracks on the bottoms of both ( gotta love sellers on Ebay!) so I'm just gonna start cutting a little at a time till they work. That way if and when I cut too much I'll know what I shouldn't do when I get a good set!
These type of mirrors are made to mount in the wing window area on cars not on the door itself! If your truck as a vent ( wing ) widow you can remove it & made a plate to fit that area correctly than mount the mirrors in that area! What I was going to do until I switched my doors of 4-Runner doors!
