Hey guys need some help with starter problems turn key and push button is no option right now... The starter will only click on turn key and direct push can anyone tell me wat i can do im just getting clicks and its on a new starter pls help thanks
Give the starter a couple taps and try it, it might be sticking.. just because it's new doesn't mean a thing. My dad always told me NEW = Never Ever Worked, once it works then it's not new
When mine clicked it was my battery. I checked it under load & it only had 5volts, but while sitting there it showed 12v. I also took the opportunity to upgrade my alternator. Check your battery first. I wouldn't recommend hitting the starter, some can break internally.
if you take the starter apart there are two L shaped brass contacts where the poles attach. replace those and you will be good to go. 22R88
tried that method too Also a new battery havent tested voltage tho Will try that out.....also the battery ground to the block does it need to go to the block mounts screwed to the block or can i ground to mount to chassie

It is definitely a toyota wiring problem but you can fix it with a small change to the wiring instead of adding a new relay/solenoid. The credit goes to Big Ern on Pirate4x4, here is a picture of the original diagram with the fix. The relay you need to fix is located on the passenger side fenderwell in the engine compartment. The way toyota wired this up only acts as a failsafe for the clutch and defeats the purpose of the relay. A typical relay is used to pass a high amp current with a low amp signal. By adding the wire indicated above you are doing just that, allowing a low-resistance path straight from the battery to the starter.
Do you have a clutch switch hooked up? The relay indicated in that drawing is using the clutch pedal switch as a ground for the relay coil/signal. Has it ever started correctly after the conversion? Did you bypass the neutral safety switch? If you don't have a clutch safety switch hooked up then it most likely is a problem in your starter. I replaced my starter in the process of fixing this before I fixed the relay wiring and it was still intermittent after the wiring fix. I had to put my old starter back in and with the fixed relay wiring and everything worked. The starter was a few weeks old duralast unit from autozone.
