    Any help would be great

Picked up an alternator from Napa and she won't fit. Any one else had any problems like this?

I assume you got an alternator for a 22re and you are trying to put it on a 22re?

In what way won't it fit?

I've had one that I had to file the bushing down on each end to get it to fit in the fixed mount end.

Compare it to your old one...measure the gaps...

This guy right here. Same issue a month ago. I meant to be in and out (of the garage) in about ten minutes, ended up taking 1.5 hours of grinding, fitting, grinding, fitting. Mine was from Napa as well... Next time I'll get the jag alt and grind the MOUNT so replacements are a breeze.

The front of the bottom bracket has a slip sleeve that tightens against the body of the alternator when the bolt is tightened. When the bolt and the alternator are removed, this sleeve doesn't slide back forward and has to be coerced with a pry tool, pliers, or my favorite; a hammer....to make fitting the new alternator easier. Look closely with a light and you'll see what I'm talking about.
When I swap alternators I use a long rod and hammer the sleeve forwards a couple whacks from the top of the engine bay, back by the firewall...this is usually just enough to wiggle the new alternator in there. The sleeve can be moved enough forward to allow the alternator to just drop in but it's a PITA to get to so I just move it slightly and finagle the new alternator in.
    Good luck!

Yup. I use a bolt, 2 flat washers and a socket large enough for the sleeve to slip into and press the sleeve out. Easy-sleezy. :D
