hey all, im looking for a G series 5 speed trans for my 1990 2wd 22r hilux. i have the G40 4 speed and its about gone, clutch is history too but i figured while its off, might as well throw a whole tranny under her. I would be open to a W55 as well, if only i could get some straight info on swapping from G to W series. Im looking for something under 100,000 miles and 2WD. thanks
Straight info: A W55 will bolt right up to a 22R. You may need a different length drive shaft to do the swap.
Thats what i figured, i really wouldnt wanna deal with driveshaft work if i didnt have to... that being said, poor man's gotta take what he can get. although i have heard that the w and g series have different trans mounts. but i dont believe this is true, because on rock auto and several other places ive looked, they are the same part number for the 88-95 trucks (i think even earlier, like 85). thanks Scomber for the verification. its easy to get confused with all the people on the internet talking about stuff they know little to nothing about.
