    Hello everyone,
I just gave my truck a tuneup because of the lack of power. Plugs wires cap and rotor and Air Filter. I went to spray some throttle body cleaner down the intake, but when I disconnect the stock intake the truck dies. Is this normal?
I have never owned a vehicle with so many vacuum lines before I sprayed carb cleaner on all the vacuum lines and everything seems ok. I disconnect the pvc hose truck dies. That seems strange to me.
Any sujestions? Should I be worried or is this normal on these motors

If you're disconnecting the intake hose before the mass air flow meter, the motor will die. Is that what's being disconnected?

I disconnect the intake right from the throttle body.

you are pulling your MAF off and without that your truck will die...

What is happening is that when you pull it off the throttle body the air is let into the motor past the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Because of this the ECU doesnt see the air comming in and screws it all up.... causing the truck to die. Dissconnect the intake before the MAF and spray it in there. Make sure the intake cleaner you are using is Sensor friendly too!

Clean the throttle body without the engine running. I usually hold the gas pedal down with something long, like a prybar, then use some kind of brush to clean it. When i did mine it was pretty dirty and i musta knocked a chunk of carbon into the idle control motor, the thing idled goofy for a couple days, oh well.
