I have a question how do you guys get around not hitting your drive shafts on the frame cross over under the back of the cab, I had bent my drive shaft when I was prerunnin, I was about 4ft airbourne and the only change I had made that would get it closer to the cross member was I had cut the point off of the bump stops which is around 1/2 an inch, and it maybe compressed an inch. I've heard alot of you saying to remove them all around, but could only imagine that they have the center support bearing. Also I put the pinion correct blocks in and it only brings the drive shaft closer to the cross member, is there something you guys do to the cross member to clear it? Has anybody ever modified this?
i cut mine completely to clear. i have a few rear supporting ones that clear higher and im also making a custom tubular bridge to clear minie. ill post pictures once i have it up on there..... if you drop it any farther than 4 inches. the driveshaft will hit. i found this out when i had my 3" springs and tried to go install my 3" blocks on top of them........ i had to cut out my cross member so it wouldnt sit on the driveshaft. when i had just the 3" springs and had a load in the bed, i would occasionally tap the driveshaft. i was not running bumpstops.
thanks i was thinking of just removing the center section about 5" and putting a bent piece of 1 1/2 tube accross. it would move it up a little and still be strong. does your truck flex at all with it cut out?
