Joined this site after 20+ years of owning, building & wheeling Toyota trucks but only recently purchased my first 2wd....to use as a work truck.
I bought it with a blown head. Installed a new head and EB268 cam this weekend.
Now that it's running excellently, it rides like a$$! :doah: and the tires rub the top of the inner front fenders on bumps, humps, and dips. :verdict_in: I started reading here to hopefully get ideas to make it ride better. If I can't get it to ride decent while being lowered, I'll either sell it or yank the blocks and crank the t-bars back up.
The tires that rub are a bit oversized (205/75/14) so maybe some stockers (195/75/14) would help but I'm thinking if I can get it riding better, I just plaz out the inner fenders and raise them a tad to clear the tires when their completely stuffed. This would allow me to eventually score some used & properly backspaced 17's on the cheap and fit them without the same rubbing issues.
It has what I would guess is a 3" drop. Blocks and belltech rear leafs & loosened t-bars. Not sure if they re-keyed them. To be honest, I haven't looked at the suspension much yet. I will this weekend though, if my kids allow me some tinkering time.
It also has no stereo and that sucks majorly....but it's easily fixable....and will be fixed soon!
Other than re-keying the t-bars and flipipng the BJ's, what else will make the front ride better short of bag'n it?
Also, the shifter boot is torn allowing a good amount of hot air to blow inside the cab. The only one I could find google'n yesterday was on ebay for $25. Seemed high to me for a salvaged stock rubber boot. Anybody know where to get one or have a spare they'll let go of for cheap?

My 84 is slightly modded. Inboarded rears, RUF's, flat belly, seamless long slip square front drive shaft, 8k winch, custom high clearance rear bumper, 1.75" DOM front bumper & stinger, W56, dual twin sticked cases, 5:29's, Aussie front, spooled rear, 38 TSL's yada yada yada

Thanks for the welcome Da Roach.
I'm finding subtle differences between the 2 & 4wd models other than the things I already knew relating to frame clearances and what not. For example....the 4wd dome light rear view mirror uses a slightly different bolt pattern. Just enough difference that they won't interchange. Also, I now have to drain the oil from the passenger side. Little things.
Awful nice of ya on the boot offer? :waytogo: If this is the one you have, http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/150848571988_1_0_1/1000x1000.jpg ,how much you need for it? It would ship to Tulsa, OK

I have kind of, sort of, stock piled parts here and there over the years (from rolled, flopped or totaled 22r/22re 4wd trucks).....so if you need something, hit me up and I'll go rummage my shelves.

Thanks for the welcome & suggestion 90DailyDriven. Appreciate ya chiming in.
Unfortunately, where the tires rub isn't going to change if I swap fenders due to it rubbing the top of the inside fender well. Here's a pic of where they rub....

If I can get it to ride better, I'll just plaz em out and weld em back in 1-2" higher.
