    First time poster here :)

Can anybody help me figure out how to tell what aftermarket fuel tank I can order for my 92 4WD Xtra cab? The dealership wants $600 for one. I'm just looking for a way to know that I'm ordering the right one :)

Searching online it seems like it is pointing me to a 17 gallon one, but i'm almost certain I have a 16 gallon tank. I did find on rock auto using the VIN number to figure out which one to get.

    Thanks!

I can. What do you guys think? The mechanic I'm working with is suggesting all factory parts and that it might be good to do the fuel pump too. The factory tank is $600. The factory pump is also $600. He doesn't usually use aftermarket parts on Toyota's or Honda's. I can save a lot going with aftermarket parts (looks like $400 on tank and $400-450 on fuel pump). I would use factory parts for the rest of what needed to be replaced.

I don't think the tank is the problem, but we won't be able to tell without digging in to it. It drips down the tank, onto the skip plate and then to the ground when the truck is running. It continues to drip for awhile when it is turned off, but at a much lower rate. Then it stops after 30 minutes to an hour. The best I can tell it is coming from the top part of the tank and then coming down.

It also is hard to start after it has been off for awhile. You just have to crank it for 10-15 seconds then it fires right up.
