I've been slacking on doing anything to the truck for months now I've just been driving it and enjoying the stiff ride. :D

I did have a bout with the float taking a dump awhile back but a new one from carbsdirect.com fixed it right up. Then last weekend my wife drove the truck hauling a load of stuff to our new house. I fired it up to move it and it wouldn't fire again when we went to leave and after some checking I found that the 6AL had died. I swapped a stock system back into the truck but after some checking the ignitor in the other stock system was bad. Go fawking figure my back up needed a backup.

So I did a GM hei ignitor swap and used the blaster ss coil I ran with the 6AL. After some tinkering and adjusting I got it to fire back up and it really runs better than it has in months. I had the timing just about half a hair too fast before so I'd get some light pinging when it was hot out with low octane fuel with the MSD ignition and it didn't have much poop above about 4800 rpm. Now with the GM module it is a few degrees too slow but it will happily rev right up to 6k just like it used to and it does so with some semblance of authority. :D I think the old ignition has been slowly dieing over the summer and I didn't notice till it puked.

My nephew wanted the jeep wheels from my truck so I dismounted my tires and put them on some centerlines I've had that I didn't think would ever fit. They are 15x8's with 3 5/8" backspacing. We had to roll the fenders and bedsides to clear them but they fit perfect. :D

Other than that I haven't done a damned thing but drive it. :D

Thanks, I think it is just about perfect. The tires have a bit of stretch but not enough that it looks dumb like so many I see. Running 195/60's out back and 205/50's in the front. I don't think any other setup would clear nearly as well I just flat out got lucky. :waytogo:

Spent a few hours tonight and got a decent start on polishing the wheels. I picked up a kit from meguires even though I knew better. I'll knock them back dull tomorrow with acid to eliminate some old hard water stains and so I can start fresh and do it right. I'll start off with some ultra fine cut cleaner and a wool mitt on my buffer, then use the polish on the foam cone like I should have...

So I hit the wheels with acid and a stainless wire brush to get rid of the water spots and leftover stains from the wheels apparently being coated in brake dust for years at a time. They cleaned them up with an SOS pad from the way they were scratched too. Once I did that the wool mitt and light cleaner compound got them smooth so the foam and polish made them shine better than before. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

Pic as promised. They turned out fawking sweet! Might see if I can salvage the centercaps too. One of them looks about like it fell off and got hit by half of rush hour traffic before they found it...

Remember this from earlier in the thread?

I'm parting out the 80 so its going into the race truck this summer. It's about 11 lbs heavier than a 22r fully dressed but I'll be pulling the p/s and a/c pumps off so it'll be a decent bit lighter. Going to be fun when I turbo it...

Not yet but it will this summer. We're moving again, not having a shop of my own has just about driven me insane. We moved real close to my oldest brother last November and he just built a real nice shop but I don't want to have any involved projects there.

I am picking up a pair of 45dcoe9's with velocity stacks, filters and both 20 and 22r intakes with a bunch of tuning parts to slap on there for the time being though. :D
