Was wondering if any of have systems in your trucks, mainly the std cabs. I'm trying to think of some ideas. I know I wanna do a bed box, but I'm debating if I wanna do SPL, SQ, or both. What are you guys & gal(s) running, if any? If any of you have bed boxes already, pics please!
i dont know what an spl or sq is but in my std cab i installed 6.5 inch speakers and i have two 6x9s behind the bench seats in a box, and that BUMPS! u culd fit a 10" sub in a slanted box behind there. i was gonna do that but then i decided to wait for a bed box but if ur not runnin a bench seat just make sure u just recline ur seat to where the box fits, which isnt that difficult because the box is pretty thin for having a sub in there.
SPL is Sound Presure Level, it measures the amount of decibals (db's) in your car from the bass. SQ is Sound Quality. I'm 6 ft. those seats are not goin any further up. Besides, I want more than one 10". Been there, done that, ruled it. I wanna do at least 3 10's, thinking of doing 8 Alpine Type-S 10's off 2 Alpine 1000 watt amps.
I fit 2 kicker 12 inch cvrs behind my stock bench seat and it effing QUAKED!!!! If you need the box that is just large enough to fit the 12 I can get them for 50 a piece, they are slanted so they tuck behind the seat pretty well. Luckily my titan has a lot more room to work with so I am going to go with 6x9s in all four doors which also have stock tweeters in each door. 2 12 inch kicker l7 1200 watt subs under the back seat. I already have a custom box made to fit under the seat for those subs.. just need amps and subs now
My plans are to get a CD player that works. Stupid CD player crapped out on me and I can only listen to the radio.
Javi, don't do 6x9's! Do 6 1/2" components. They will sound a hell of alot better and get just as much bass responce.
Lets not forget Pioneers Shallow mount subs! http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POCEN/Products/Car+Audio+Video/Subwoofers/Shallow+Series#Home Very cool subs! Ideal for std cab trucks! I bet you could fit 3 or 4 behind the seat...... depending on the size.
even though they are shallow you cant put more of them behind the seat.. maybe 3 TOPS but you will have a few more inches of leg room !
They are nice, but I don't use my bed for anything. I planned on doing a bed box from the beginning. Plus, there are quite a few people here that do stereo competitions that run high end equipment. I like to prove to them that you don't have to buy high end stuff to compete. The system that I have in mind is all entry level stuff from Alpine.
would this box fit in a standard cab? http://www.supercrewsound.com/commerce/product.jsp?catId=66&prodId=129
Twisted, wow, Crunch! I haven't seen Crunch since '94. Had two Crunch 8's behind the seat of an '86 Ranger. Possibly, depends on how much room you're willing to give up.
I have a bazooka 8" box with a Alpine type "s" 8" mounted in it. The bazooka just could not handle what I wanted it too. The alpine is awsome and the space it takes up in nothing. People do not believe me when i say it is only an 8", They always figure it is a 12". It is certainly not a competition system, But it sounds great and takes up no space.......
