Man, this truck is just gorgeous. So perfect! :waytogo: The plasti-dip looks very clean, but I also loved the patina on your truck. It wasn't too much (like mine) but gave it an edge.

I'm back in to my project full bore and need to ask you a couple suspension things - I'll PM you. It's cool bc mine's like an x-ray of yours, white with red lettering on the tail gate

Thanks guys. Not too much to update now, getting the front spindles hopefully within the next few weeks to do the disc swap, 2rz rebuild kit is on it's way, and new clutch parts ordered soon. As soon as it starts to get moving I'll update it here.

Slux, I can't part with anything right now, I'm sorry, but as soon as I do I'll go through and make a list.

lopez286, I would love to see that thing. Did you use your stock rear-end?

vandall, yep I got your PM. Would like to see your truck in person soon!

Curious how the plastidip was shot. My buddy is looking at doing it to his and I am curious if I can use a standard spray gun to shoot it or do I need the dipyourcar gun?

I'd use their gun as its built to shoot the dip rather then a standard one that may run into slight clogging issues.

Been a while since I've updated this, swap is moving along and should be done in a couple months I hope. Shop I'm doing the swap at is about 65 miles from home so it's difficult only getting up there just about once a week. Motor and transmission are currently in, had to cut out a large part of the crossmember for the motor to sit low enough since I was using the stock one, motor mounts done, and the transmission crossmember mount just finished up yesterday, pictures will come of the final products soon. The bellhousing originally was rubbing on the steering linkage, but with some movement and more modifying of the motor mounts, we got it to clear, also worked perfect with the shifter and have it lined up perfectly to the original location. Radiator was originally going to have to either be mounted in the bed, or underneath the bed in the spare tire area. Luckily we had enough room to fit it, will just need to get 2 small 9" pusher fans to sit right behind the grille, which will hopefully give enough air to keep it cool. Going to stick with the stock fuel tank, bought an in-line fuel pump from a older 22RE Celica ('83 I think). Bought the 2/3RZ mini header kit from Toyota to help with fitment. Both drivelines from the Hilux and the Tacoma have been pulled, just waiting on some money to come in to take them to a shop to get cut and sleeved. Next weekend will be trimming excess steel from the mounts and crossmembers, finishing up, cleaning, then painting. Pulling motor and dropping transmission one last time to seal up oil pan and installing clutch parts. Running cables, hoses, and doing electrical will come after all that. Will try to update this more with more photos. Here are a couple from the past few weekends.

    Motor sitting in truck.

Front shot. Motor definitely taller and longer than the 18R, but when sitting right and low enough, it fit with no cutting or pounding anything. Note only cut needed was the small piece above brake booster in able for the new one to fit against the firewall.

One of the many times having to pull the motor to modify mounts.

How the motor mounts were modified, plated so the stock frame side could line up to the stock location on motor. Obviously much different. This was just one of the modifications, I'll take a picture of the final ones before its dropped back down into the truck.

Front crossmember completely cut for oil pan to sit low enough. Don't mind the green paint, the frame and sub frame are from the parts truck I have.

Oil pan sitting very low, using thick steel plating to armor it up though in front and on the bottom of it.

How the transmission crossmember will be modified. 2RZ transmission mount sat a few inches back, so it was cut and brought back. It's now fully plated top and bottom. Holes need to just be cut in middle with trimming and paint to follow.

Transmission lined up to almost the exact location as stock one, turned out perfect.

    Toyota mini header kit.

2-inch square tubing which will help brace and protect the front crossmember and from the oil pan being smashed up.

3/16th steel plate welded underneath for protection up front and in rear under the transmission mount.

This was right after fabbing it up. Next week will be trimming the corners down and painting clean.

    More updates to come!

Little more of an update. Truck is nearly finished. Few things that needs to be done, one is getting my stock radiator flushed and cleaned out, possibly have the shop re-do the whole thing. I bought a 2nd gen hilux radiator hoping it would work but its just too wide and more modification to core support would have to be done. After that is mounting the two 9" Spal electric fans that will sit right behind the grill, then customize the hoses. Getting the 2 drivelines from both trucks taken to a shop this week so they can build me a custom one. Ordered new body mounts this morning, only thing I could find from any pickup was energy suspension (I think the brand one), year truck listed was '73 to '88, so I figured what the hell, it should work, even though every site has body mounts for toyota trucks listed for 4WD ones. I ended up swapping the LCA's for 2nd gen hilux ones because the lower ball joints on the spindles for my disc swap wasn't sitting right with the original ones, that means I need a new front swaybar, the stock one is too wide and doesn't line up correctly. Also going to be running a cone style air filter (not the stock airbox as shown in video), so I have a MAF sensor adapter tube kit thingy on order too, should be here in a few days. My buddy who has been a tremendous help with this project has a little more wiring to do. Finish mounting the bed, fuel tank, fuel pump, figure out the e-brake and how that will be ran. The transmission crossmember got a little bit tweaked while building, some stress cuts will need to be made and bent a little so it lines up correctly, then re-weld and paint. As for now, here are some photos and a video of the first start up. That's open header by the way, sounds pretty tough for a little 2.4L. Thanks for reading, more updates to come.

Front crossmember plated where it was cut in half & painted.

Bottom view. Hope it's strong enough!

Mocking up where the electric fans will go, trimming will most likely be needed.

Battery tray in place. Evap box needs to be mounted. New air intake needs to be installed also.

Showing how low the new front crossmember support sits to the ground.

This is without body mounts on that front side. I may need to trim the springs a little more later on, considering mounts will add half an inch or so. I like the ride height in this picture but know it wont stay the same.

Update, sorry it took so long. Truck has been finished and mostly wrapped up for a few months now, been real busy and haven't had much time to sit down and upload a few photos. I'll try to get a video sometime soon. Besides the motor finally being in and driveable, not much has changed, I did pull another leaf in the rear with leaves me only at 2 leafs, plus the 3" blocks. I won't get super into detail with finishing the swap, radiator got a whole new core, electric fans put up front, as shown, exhaust straight piped down and dropped under bed. Not real sure what will be next, just that I'm very excited for summer to roll around so I can take it out and around a lot more than I can in the winter time here. Feel free to ask any questions if anyone has any. As now I have time to check in and post for a few minutes from my phone which is usually what I'm always posting on. Here are some photos, video will be on soon.

Might not be the prettiest, but it's 2x the horsepower which is good enough for me haha. Anyone know much about EVAP deletes, any huge cons?

After that 4th leaf was pulled.
