the original owner didnt like the look of the stock round headlights so he changed them, i preferably like the round headlights and am kind of bummed he didnt have them laying around but it is what it is.

haha thank you for the warm welcome lilred, i really appreciate it. im thinking about finding a set, but im not exactly sure what i want to do yet because i was thinking of taking it to the drags once i get everything sorted out and beef up the rear. im in a bit of a rough spot right now due to a disability so the process is going to move a bit slow but i have some plans up my sleeve. ill keep you updated as well as anyone else who takes intrest in this thing as i move along with it. just picked up points and a condenser for it a couple days ago so hopefully ill have a video of it running by the end of the weekend.

I wanna see this thing go down the track. Do I hear the whistling of a blower or maybe it's twin turbos in this trucks future? :looney:

so do i haha. i have no clue, id like to do something like that in the future if i have the money but not anytime soon. this is my first yota, i honestly didnt even know mine existed until i bought it lol and also my first small block motor so this is also a learning experience for me. i was an installer at a transmission shop for a couple of years so i have mechanical experience but this is all new to me so before i push it too much i want to learn as much as i can. btw i looked through the majority of the builds on here and i give credit where credits due you guys have all done some great work on these trucks and its got me really interested in the hiluxs' now, i wouldnt mind getting another one down the line as a daily.

They are truly amazing daily drivers! I've owned my truck for 8 years now it has 303, xxx miles on it and I still average 31 mpg with a 5spd. On the freeway. Still original motor and just maintain the maintenance they will run for ever. Screw a car get a mini and get good fuel mileage and haul sh!t in the bed lol. :waytogo:

my dad owned a couple little toyota pickups when i was a kid and he ran them to the ground but it took him forever to do it haha. yeah i really dig your truck man and i hope that you get as many miles as you can out of it especially since you keep up on it the way you do. im definitely looking forward to picking up another, itd be cool to pick up a 79 hilux so i have the mini version of mine. we have a sh*tbox f150 thats a scrap / work truck right now so if i did find another hilux it would be the clean daily with better gas mileage haha.

I think your truck deserves a build thread. I'm sure your going to do quite a bit to it. :waytogo:

thanks man, i just didnt want to start one and have somebody tell me im in the wrong spot or something haha. its a bit of a wiring nightmare, it has a super old blaupunkt stereo in it with bendable stick equalizers and something else, and the original owner mustve been in a rush to listen to music because it was ridiculous. there was wires wrapped around the steering column and all types of other jury rigged stuff going on :verdict_in: . i just spent a bunch of time eliminating all this unneeded stereo equipment, so i can get to the more important wiring.
