Hello everyone, My name is Rob and I recently picked up this beauty from an older gentleman that retired from my place of work. I live in Alberta, Canada and am no stranger to Toyotas. My wife drives an 05' limited V6 4Runner and I also drive a 03' SR5 V8 4Runner (lightly modified). So my recent $400 purchase is a 1980 2wd longbed with a 5speed. Here it is the day I brought her home! And after I removed the hideous topper and put some mirrors on it. Runs pretty decent but needs a good tune up. Feel free to chime in and offer up some advice on what to keep an eye on or some tuning knowledge.
Great Deal ! Welcome to TM. Wish that you were closer as I have a clean set of the SR5 rims like you have on the front right wheel with the center caps and Trim rings. I keep holding on to em but probably will never use them again unless my Turbo's get damaged. 79-83 are still my favorite body style of all the old yotas. Congrats and have fun fixing it up.
Thanks for the welcome! I'm not sure why I have different wheels on the back but as far as steelies go I do like the look of the ones on the front. Thanks, pictures are deceiving though. She's got some cancer but it's pretty minimal considering what are winters are like. I agree, I actually feel like the guy I bought it from got robbed. I love driving it! It's so basic and simple compared to my 4Runner. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Other than what is noticeable in the photos it's not to terrible. The undercarriage is in surprisingly good shape. I'd say its better than my 03' 4Runner.
