OK so I'm trying to get my truck started and my starter is just clicking. I'm Just trying to jump the starter for now. I'm thinking the starter is hitting the flywheel teeth. Its a brand new starter and flywheel. How can I line the teeth up so it will turn it over.

Sounds like low voltage or the battery cable to the starter is loose or not hooked up.

Turn the crankshaft. But before that check your battery connections. Especially your grounds.

But what if the teeth aren't lining up. How would I correct that?

You can bench test the starter and take a peek at your flywheel and the gear on the starter to see if there is anything obvious?

TRUCK_ACTION always chimes in on this subject...maybe he will go into detail, since all I understood from him was "lo-voltage issue"....

I'm thinking it could be that the battery was too low. I'm gonna try it again today. I charged the battery all night. Both starter and flywheel are brand new gears on both look good. Main thought is battery being low and gears being off from one another

Like said ,bench test the starter, see if it will spin with voltage applied!
Test the battery with a volt meter,12.5 volts with a full charge!

If all is good ,it probably will be the low volt problem at the low voltage side ( feed to the starter.)
This is fixed by install a Ford solenoid @ the firewall which will supply a direct low & high voltage feed to the starter .

Sense I did this fix I have never had this problem again!!!

One more question non starter related. I did a motor swap to a Mercedes turbo diesel. Motor is fully mechanical just need the Toyota starter, alternator, and glow plug wires. I was wondering if I could eliminate the Toyota ecu now since it doesn't control anything on the motor. Unless I'm missing something the ecu does.

You can take the ecu out no problem.

Yeah, you won't get anywhere if your battery is toast....
