I was changing out the front shocks on my 82 2wd hilux and it looks like the original shocks are still on it. un bolted it just like normal:looney:
bottom unbolted fine and went to drop it out the bottom of the lower control arm.
    nope.:brickknock:
even put the pickup on a jack stand and jack the control arm up to see if that helped. nope::verdict_in:
am i doing something wrong? i know shocks are easy to remove and replace but this is freakin rediculous!

Did you unbolt the top too?

Maybe use some twine/rope/speaker wire to keep the shock compressed so you can contort it out of the suspension?

Everything is unbolted and the shock is so old it nearly collapsed on itself. there is no problem getting it to do what i want except for right at the top of the cylinder where the top stud is, is too fat for the lower control arm and wont slip past that lip. its quite frustrating. i am going to get it out when i get off work tonight. its just a huge pain in the ass.

A sawzall, a BFH, WD 40, a cutting torch, Vise grips and duct tape. Any man worth his salt will be able to fix anything from bicycles to bridges with just those tools alone. :D
