My 82 hilux starts and runs but doesnt idle. Fires back up. Drives down the road and spits and farts but does run. New plugs, new fuel filter, cleaned the carb with a whole can of cleaner. New air filter. Sounds like its has a nasty cam when its running. Any suggenstions as to keep it idling without a new carb change as thats where im leaning to.
Check the cylindrical metal part on the back passenger side of your carb... it has a red wire and a white wire. These wires run to the same plug as your electric chock wires... Cut a piece out of the red one and hook 12v to it and see if it will idle. If not, cut a piece out of the other one and connect it to ground...see if it will idle. If not, your anti-diesel solenoid and connections are fine.
