Well, this happened tonight. High school girl pulling out of her school's parking lot (no lights on) ran right into the side of my truck. Ripped the driveshaft out of the transmission & snapped one of the leaf springs. I've only had the truck about 6 months. It was on my list of cars I've always wanted to own, but I'm going to move on to another car on that list next. Thanks for all the great information I've found here. I'll be putting some things up for sale here shortly after I pull some parts from the truck. I'm just glad there were no injuries.
Wow that really sucks. Hope you make her pay for her mistake. Good luck on the next project and hope to see you soon with another truck.
given youve made up your mind but thats actually not that bad a damage as it looks. new leaf springs, pop the driveshaft back in and the rest is cosmetics.
That's an afternoon worth of work to get it put back together at worst. Since the leaf broke odds are there's no frame damage.
That's nothing. Leaf springs? drop springs. Driveshaft popped out? push it back in. not sure how that carrier bearing looked, but should be simple. surprised those 14mm bolts held up. Toyota.
Here's a better pic of the truck about 2 days later. I'll find out how much I could buy the truck off the insurance company for, but I would have to have a solid buyer lined up first. I already pulled all the turn signals & clear front corners. They were sold on Friday.
