I was wondering why i never see any of these trucks with fender mirrors? I'm hoping to pick up an 81 and was gonna try to plant some mooneyes fender mirrors. I was also looking for fender flares and a lip but i have no idea where to pick em up.
For our USA models, fender mirrors were not available. There are some fender mirrors on eBay to give your truck the JDM look. You will not find fender flares or a front spoiler that will fit the '79-'83 trucks. If we turned back time to the early to mid 80's, then you would find tons of stuff. Luckily, I ordered my air dam at the time when these type of items were available. You can probably get away with 4WD fenders and the flares for the bed. Good luck with your search! Rick
I'm sure i could find some lip. but I plan to lower the truck and really wanted to flare but i guess not. has anyone tried an mk1 lip? i need to find some coilovers.
I have an 80 and a customer of mine has an 80 4wd...Easiest thing to me and actually what I plan on doing soon would be to take and replace your front fenders with the 4wd fenders and then cut and section a 2nd set of 4wd fenders for the rear...this would give the same square flare look both front and back. I also got fender mirrors off the internet but have not installed them yet as I have not found any good shape 4wd front fenders.
I don't really have much to add here except the fact that fender mirrors seem kinda universal to me? Maybe find some online that look like what you're after and kinda size em up before getting the drill out, or cheap ones on CL and go from there? Best of luck and it definitely has the potential to look dope.
