I was wondering if anyone knows if the newer gen truck axle, leafs, driveshafts would fit on a 71 Toyota want to upgrade to newer drum brakes and I need to change my leafs
For the leaf, measure the eye to eye length and the front eye to center pin lengths. The axles are the same width until 78 (53"), and got wider with each following generation. The driveline rear flange changed its 4 bolt pattern in the early 80s, so keep the rear u joint flange matched to the rear end. Drivelines all seem about the same, except different length differences.
Heres the pics of your truck. I couldn't find an actual build thread for you so you should start one.
He has a 1" rear block and some plates pulling the leaf pack down to the overload. Unknown front work, probably cut coils or stock mighty max springs.
