I want to know all your estimates on what kind of power my newest build will make Late 22r block and head .040" over 10:1 compression custom flat tops Engnbldr over size valves Port and polish head an intake Undecided on cam I'm hoping it makes a decent amount, definitely more then a stock 20r
Look at celica-gts.com, they specialize more onto the 22r power subject, I remember dyno numbers on a 2.6 Stroker made 140whp, your probably looking around 120-130whp on the high side. Stock 20r is around 66whp.
1981 stock 22r making 90hp + an additional 15hp from my gas monkey sticker + an additional 25hp from driver mods so all in all, about 85hp..........
factoring age etc engines lose alot of power, hate to say it but i would guess youre at the 65-75hp mark. hard to tell without dynoing it
Wouldnt doubt it with the one in my truck.. But I'm building one for it that will hopefully be double that, like 130-140..
I would say 130ish to the street is about right. Fun til it hits 75 then the rate of accel drops fiercely. My 20/22 .020 over, 11:1 ported and polished with a 2.5 exhaust probably only makes 160 whp. If you want more than that, just stick a bigger motor in.
I have an unlabeled cam my buddy got from whatever shop built the head. I measured the actual lift on the rockers and added the valve lash gap, its about a .475 lift cam. Runs wonderful on te top end. Slightly more than the stock cam was on the same engine combo. Not sure if the valve springs are OEM or aftermarket.
I know who I'm getting a cam from, I just don't know the specs yet.. The place is called Oregon Cam Grinders, there local and a whole lot cheaper then LC, and I can have mine ground to any specs
A 450-480 lift with 260-270 duration on a 110 lobe center works good. Or basic gist. Any smaller lift is pointless. Keep it under .500 lift or notch the pistons for valve clearance.
