That is just the 3" blocks with the bumpstops removed. I had about an inch or so before touching the bumpstops at ride-height which wasn't gonna do it. If I actually receive the springs I am going to install them with a 1" block from autozone or something. I might just get a think piece of rubber to mount in the factory bumpstops holes.

I removed the inner plastic liner and it doesn't rub the lip just sitting there but I can't coast around a corner without rubbing the top of the inner fender. My 15x8 rims will be here tomorrow and I will hopefully get tires installed on them and on the road again.

Well I was going to buy tires and have them mounted at discount tire but they won't touch them due to load rating, they won't even let me buy some and take them home so I ordered some 175/55s from TireRack and some spoons on amazon and I am going to ether these bastards into submission. I wanted a 195/50 but if I have to order something special and mount them myself then I might as well go a little out of the norm to make sure they'll will fit in the fenders. I know it will be stretched a bit but I think it will look nice.

Discount said if I bring the tires and rims already seated they 'MIGHT' be able to balance them but I have my suspicions.

Thanks for the help! Member here (Beefed Taco) sells a low-profile bumpstop through his website Streettacos.

This is odd. Most tire shops will mount tires on loose rims. The only place I've been to that won't is Costco because they will only mount the right tires for any given car and if you bring in loose wheels they won't know what car they will go on.

Well first I said tiny toyota truck, load rating came up and then I told them I could bring in the rim and they said max they could do was a 7" for a 195. I understand the liability but I was surprised as I have been reading tons of recommendations for discount tire from some of the stance forums about mounting 'stretched' tires, a 195 really isn't that bad on an 8" rim especially if its only an inch larger than what they can do.

Much appreciated! Hopefully it gets better little by little.

On a side note I changed out my drivers side manual window regulator and I can't get it to adjust far enough to keep the glass from dropping below the window seal in the bottom of the window frame. It rolls down about a 1/4" too far and falls out of the guiding rubber.

I searched around in my area and researched tires for days! Finally decided on the falcon ziex tires and found Americas tire had them the cheapest....Called around some more until i found one with them in stock..... Loaded up the crown vic's and took off! When i got there, they said they wouldn't sell me them because of the load rating crap and started trying to sell me 65-70 series tires!

I was aiming for a 50 series, but the lowest they had with the "required load rating" was 55 series....in an off brand by continental (barum bravarius), for almost double what i expected to pay for the falcons (after their "certificates", "compatible lug nuts", etc).

I'm happy with them and not spinning out in the rain anymore, but...the moral of the story...

Don't tell them S**t! Say they're for your corolla or something, lol!

I think I will stick with 'going on my geo metro! or maybe for my 71 mg midget."

When I called I even asked if I lied and said they were for a 15x6, could they sell me the tires and they said no, they have to have the vehicle to look at. The guy was helpful but trapped by the liability.

Yep, I ran into the the discount tire crap some months ago. Got a nail in one of my tires in the sidewall of course. Just took the rear two off, they were getting bad anyway and took them in. He asked what vehicle I told him and he started punching away on his keyboard. I was like, um they are X size and it was like talking to a wall. They will only sell what is recomended by their computer and nothing else. Here's the kicker, couple years ago, they are the ones who put the X size tire on my truck that now they won't replace with the same one.

Kiss half your tire business goodbye. As the custom car community slowly finds out about all this and starts to get screwed over and pissed off.

I understand the liability thing, but fine give me a waiver that says I know I'm not putting stock on my vehicle and release them from responsibility.

That is exactly the wall I hit with them and I agree with the waiver.

Well I might have to steal a sticker from a fellow jeeper named ibjeepin95 over on jeepforum

I'll get some tires mounted up tomorrow and see what it does, I brought a lugnut with me to match up when I picked up the wheels but the guy at 4wheelparts said the ones he grabbed will fit and like an idiot I didn't double check. Pitch is wrong so I gotta run back over their and swap them out.

All this tire talk and rubbing issues and bagging and such, has anyone on here ever tubbed the front end?

I know a lot of bagged trucks just cut them out, but guessing that would make a mess on a daily driver. Thoughts?

I know grants kustoms makes tubs and they list they can do custom ones.

I don't plan on larger wheels right now so I don't know if I'll need tubs, this is going to be a DD style build so if anything I will clean up the fenders in the engine bay and then beat them up into the engine bay for more room.

Yea, I thought about that, I don't think I'll need much more clearance, but like you, even if I clear the fender lip, I still think my tire size is going to rub the top of the fender well. Guess as long as I smooth it out should be ok.

My tire height is going to be very close to the stock height. Well about an inch less, approx. 24.5"

On my 78 its super low. I pulled the fender liners, hammered the firewall pinch weld and beat the tops upward a few inches. I rolled my fenders. I can fit a 24.5" tire up front without any rubbing, and I'm much lower than most guys here.

Don't cut the inners, beat them with a sledge. Once you think its done paint it bomb can black and drive it. Wherever it rubs it'll be shiny and you know what to hit more.

Good progress so far. I dig it. If ya need 84-88 parts I got a whole 88 2wd truck I'm stripping to hot rod.

I run 205/40/17s up front now but have had 215/60/14, 225/50/16 and many other similar sizes. Fits decent, worst is it rubs a hair at full lock.

Sounds like a plan. I'm gonna be running a 185/65/15 tire. I just picked up a cheap hammer and doly set from harbor freight for some sheet metal massaging.

I think my biggest concern now is just clearing the lip! If I have to I will crank the torsions back up a little, I don't mind scraping the front spoiler thing but I don't want to scrape suspension hard parts or mounts.

My stock tires self-clearanced some of the tabs inside the inner fender lip already.

My tires come out to about 23" overall diameter according to this handy calculator TIRE CALCULATOR but that is only if the tires actually spec out close to advertised. Looks like the 205/40/17 is 23 as well.

Thanks! The only stock parts I need so far(excluding unknowingly missing emissions junk) is a factory plastic tailgate handle as mine is broken on one side and the latch is wired open on that side from the PO.

If the tailgate handle is a door handle I have spares. And my current fronts are a bit smaller than what I've had in the past. I'm shocked they ride so smooth being such a rubber band.

I will check on the handle.

My leaf spring showed up today, for whatever reason I thought it was a pair of springs(maybe cause of the picture showing two), sadly I only receive one so I ordered another one from the same guys on amazon. I emailed them ahead of time and they have the part in stock this time.

FSM should have arrived today too so hopefully its waiting for me at home.

I had seen some people recommending a 205/40 but I was trying to avoid rubber banding, its good that yours are doing well!

Received my FSM today and looking at it I swear I have a hodge-podge of different carb and emissions crap on mine. I have some sort of combo between a federal and cali emissions.
