Where do you guys get your 8" gear sets? All I can find are the higher ratios for the 4 wheelers like 5.29's but I'm wanting lower like 3.40's or 3.50's... I'm probably just looking right past them like always..:rolleyes2:

    Any suggestions?

the only low ratio's you will find in an 8" 2wd will be the 3:44's and the 3:07's. the 4cyl 4 speed manual trucks came with the 3:07's. the 3:44's are more commonly found on the v6 trucks with 5 speeds.

here's a helpful way to find out whats in a truck...

Probably not going to find much in the aftermarket. The 3.07's are out there though. Just remember to grab the one longer stud that is specific to the 3rd member.

I'm aware they are out there, I'm picking one up tonight:D

What longer stud? Is it on the axle housing or on the diff itself?

Lower passenger side of the housing going through the diff is about 3" long.

I'm looking for more like 3.50s.. Thanks though!

On a side note, I now have 3.07's! And it feels tight and not sloppy like a mofo...

If you REALLY want 3.44's then dig up a 7.5" housing from an early truck and I'll give you a diff.

    I think my V6 8" 2WD axle has 3.42's or 3.41's
