Welcome! No cons whatsoever.. Ive had my c notch for 6 years and no issues. There is plenty of members who can do it for you or you can do it yourself.:waytogo:

there is a loss of material where you cut but with proper bracing and boxing in of the frame, it will be plenty strong.make sure it is properly welded and good metal is used. you should never have any issues. ive known guys who have had rear end collisions with no ill effects from the notch.

if you want to go lower without smacking the frame, notching is the answer.

Good to see new members. We like pictures. So show us your truck and how about some before and after pics when you get it on it's way to the ground.

The front looks like it had a lift kit on the first pic lol. It sits lower than mine. But I'm also still at stock height. Booo.

Mines an 88 and with a removed middle leaf and flipped overload leaf on 3in blocks it only hits the frame on big bumps. And the ubolt is what hits not my axle tube. So I'm pretty okay with it for the next year or so. Or whenever it gets a monster notch and baggage

Judging from that "after" pic, if you notch it you're going to really rub those rear tires on the fender lips. I doubt even a good dosage of fender trimming will cure it. This is the one problem with notching, when you get new found axle travel, and have wheels with a low offset, you won't dig the outcome.

When a truck has 4" blocks and wide tires & wheels, it'll bottom on the frame and stop travel just when the tire starts to get chewed. Notch and it'll be much worse.

We met a couple of years ago at the dockweiler meet. I have beefeds bolt on notch for 7 years now and have no issues. You need the toxic drop shocks and you can get those on ebay. :waytogo:

So are there any pros/cons between the bolt on notch and the weld in notch?

I have to do both cross members, so I'll already be welding.

If youre welding then just do it all. Bolt on is great but its your call.. Either will work.:waytogo:
