as in you want to just delete the whole system? if it has its own belt off the crank (sorry, cant remember if AC has its own belt on them or not) just remove the belt, drain the AC, remove the compressor, lines, and everything AC related. if the compressor is driven in line with another accessory pulley, you have to either find a idler pulley in place of the compressor or find a shorter belt and then drain/remove everything

let all the gas out from the purge/fill shrader valve. once all the gas has purged, break the lines loose from the cab. there may be some residual gas left, let it leak out and stay away from it, you dont want to breathe in that stuff as its toxic.

disconnect the lines. start undoing the ac condensor from the front of the truck. you will need to remove the grill in order to pull it. start disconnecting the ac compressor from the side of the motor. do not disconnect the lines from the comp since they will help you hold on to the compressor when you remove the 4 bolts. pull the compressor off.

remove all bolts from the ac mounting bracket from the motor. there is a total of 6 i think. a couple of them are hidden.

in the cab, take your glove box off and look directly into the humidifier. there are a total of 6 bolts to remove it (i think i could be wrong, you will know if it still dont come off. most of them are visible), undo all your electrical plugs. pull your ac button from the panel. done.

the ac belt is on its own. in order to not have to remove all the other belts, just cut it.

If you want to be "environmentally responsible" (and for your own safety) you should take it to an A/C shop and have them purge the system.

You're the reason we have 8° weather haha just kidding. Just purge the valve and be careful not to breathe the fumes. Like the others said pull the belt and cut the lines. After that pull all the condensers and you should be good to go. :waytogo:

Not trying to be an ass but
purging the system to atmosphere is illegal, in case you wanted to know.

Laws aside, I've pulled the ac from all my rigs. They basically covered it. Just remove the parts. The radiator will get better airflow without the condensers, and you'll be ditching 50 lbs of junk.

As for the laws, you shouldn't open air drain them but I always do. You may be advised to keep the parts of the system to resell. My 78 came with rare dealer installed ac (completely diff brackets, ducts, lines, ect than the factory installed version) I sold the dash parts, compressor and all that to a celica guy for like 200 bucks. So don't just scrap pile it.

Oh, and I found those chrome door handles...PM me again.

There should only be 4 12 mm bolts facing the fender holding the compressor to the bracket. 5 bolts holding the bracket to the engine, 3 in the front (2 14mm & 1 12mm) the last 2 are facing the fender & if I am not mistaken they are 14mm.

ah i see. thats all i did on my Supra, compressor was making noise so i cut the AC belt off lol

the compressor shouldnt come off hard enough that you need a pry bar. if its absolutely not even moving a few MM with a pry bar, youre most likely missing something else securing it down.
