Well i decided to create this because i was curious as to what you fellas knew or thought about this. I was or still thinking about installing a racing battery in my truck to be more specific a oddessy battery ...the reason being is because it is waaay slimmer and thinner than your average battery. The other reason is because i will be relocating my battery as well and i want a cleaner engine bay. Now enough about the a few buddies of mine have said if i was to get a racing battery that i would not be able to power my radio and other e k electronic stuff. The only thing that the battery would do for me is basically just turn on my truck and tats it. So i would like to know if you knnow ppl whom have done this swap or if you have done it personally. I need to know everything i can possible know about this swap
I run 240 AAA batteries under the truck bed. Wired in a combination of parallel and series. Gives me the voltage I need while keeping things clean. Sure does suck when one gets loose though.
another way is to run a smaller battery....like the one out of a honda crv...which i plan on doing sometime in the near future
I run a Oddssey PC1500/34,it's not considered a racing battery ,just a dam good dry cell with a long life. The only military grade battery made in this country. This is a deep cycle /start battery, & is relocated to inside the cab. This band of battery is very good & can recover much better than other bands if discharged greatly! I have been running it for around 5 years now!
TRUCK ACTION YOUR MY HERO LOL...so let me ask you this am not sure if the battery your running is very slim and stuff but the one your running right now has it allow you to turn on your radio and all your electronic stuff? And finally are you using the mountaing brackets that oddessy offer in there website?
Or what would happend if i ran pc1350 or pc1100. For you fellas that dont know what those part numbers mean go to the oddesey website and you will see the different batteries with those part numbers ive listed
You might look into the Diehard Platinums that Sears carries. They are supposedly a rebadged Odyssey, at a better price. I put one in my Jeep a couple months ago and have been happy so far.
But see my overall desire to have a smimmer battery and have a more cleaner engine bay. I already got rid of my windshield reservoir and ive done a few wire tucks as well. So i want to know if i bought a slimmer battery like an oddessey battery would i lose radio power and stuff alike?
The main number is the amp hours, hence my battery is 1500 amp hours! Secondly, this batteries are not small, same foot print as a stock battery of the same amp hours, look @ Kinetic Batteries for small in size /big on power! I run DieHards in my other vehicles, not sure that they are made by Odyssey, good batteries ,but not Deep Cycle!! And not the same warranty as Odyssey!
The platinums are 4 year full replacement, I didn't see anywhere that the Odysseys have a better warranty. Not sure where to even find Odyssey batteries near me. A warranty doesn't help too much when you have to wait on a new one. They are made by the same company so it is possibly certain models are the same.
There is this place near me called west coast batteries (i stay in riversidw,ca) where they sell oddssey batteries ...so thats why i want to know so bad if i bought a smaller battery woud i lose anything? Truck action: am going to have to disagree on the size because if you go on there website you will see the different sizes they have granted yess their are the stock size ones but they also have slimmer and smaller batteries check it out bro
Odyssey Batteries Here it is fellas A FULL BREAK DOWN OF ALL THE ODDSSEY BATTERIES ON HAND...NOTICE THE DIFFERENT SIZE OF THE BATTERY WIT THAT IN MIND CAN ONE OF YOU TELL ME IF I PICKED A SMALL N SLIMMER BATTERY FROM THAT CHART SHOWN IN THE LINK I PROVIDED WOULD I BE FINE?
West Coast Batteries is where I ordered mine from, and the warranty on full replacement is 7 years with a 12 year shelve life. On the size I used is the largest amp hour with the same or close to the same foot print as stock. Mine sits in a Summit relocate box. Yes they do have small sizes!
What would you recommend if i want to go with a smaller and slimmer battery sticking with oddessey battery...all i need is part number from the chart.
The older optima's were good. Buy one now and odds are you'll be swearing AT it not by it. My wifes 4runner has a 9 year old yellow top in it. I had it in my wheeler years a few years ago and I'd run the battery down till the amps would shut down, turn it all off for a few and start the truck to recharge the battery.
I've had an Optima Red Top in my Explorer for the last 8 years with no problems and i love it. The problem is, I've heard two sides from Optimas. The ones that have good ones love them. But theres horror stories out there about them too. I can say that mine has been great though. Good enough that when and if I install the dual battery setup in the Toyota, I'll be using Optima Yellow tops.
oddysey pc545 was able to turn my 22re good, this is real light weight right here now its retired and now powering a cooler boombox
Truck Action... Those yellow tops, do they do better than a standard battery in a vehicle that might not get started but every other week or so?
