I know this is not a 1989 to 1995 but figured you guys would like to see the build anyways and still not a fan of the customtacos.com forum. Rather show the awesome people of toyotaminis.com. I do have plans for all new lights around including tail, corner, and head lights. I am going to lower it more than it already is and find some good wheels to do a Stanced look. I want a stiff ride and great handling. If things go well I hope to turbo charge it as well. I will update some better pictures this weekend when I am off work to get some during the day.
Yeah I really liked the 98-00 front end of all the tacos and this one was a good deal because it was lowered which I planned on anyways. haha
Hey at least you got another lowered Toyota. Oh by the way how you digging the weather right now. I'm just outside of Spokane right now, a daily high of about 10. Haha saw parts of Idaho was seeing a high of -2
It's not much better on this side. Highs of 40s. Rad truck. Looks like a great starting point. I recognize the wheels. Wanna say Mazda wheels.
Yeah the weather is pretty cold. I think we had a high of 1 yesterday or something like that. I am waiting for some snow to do a snow shoot with my bagged toyota and this one as well. gotta get them both. I believe the rims are off an eclipse. They have the mitsubishi emblems on them. Not 100% sure they are because I have nissan rims that say they are Lexus. I dont mind them for now but will be replaced this spring. Looking for something along these lines.
Cool little truck. You should consider the QA1 coil over set up for the front. It's the best setup. Adjustable ride height, spring rate options, (like 600lb) and adjustability on the shock from a knob. Easy 1/2 day bolt on procedure.
Oh the QA1's are bolt on? I saw people installing these in some of the custom tacos threads and they looked like they were welding bottom plates on to get them to work. I will pick some of these up soon. How is the install process for the rear?
That's tight, I had been looking for Tacoma. I been seeing people on that customtacos using 350z/g35 front stock springs. Some say 3in drop.
Yeah I need to do some work on the front. It feels a little bouncy and not stiff enough. It is also pretty bouncy in the back. I am guessing I need new shocks all around. Think I might wait and buy some good ones this spring.
KYB Monomax shocks will improve the ride immensely. Amazon has them cheapest. They'll do more than any aftermarket coil (2" Belltech) will. The QA1 front setup is total bolt on, no welding required, but does require cutting off the stock coil perch from the arm with a grinder. (see attachment below) Once this procedure is done, everything will bolt on and you'll have a fully adjustable front end. I sell complete kits, with adapter plates and low pro bump stops, or just the adapter plates, with or w-o bump stops. The rear 4 link setup is 99% bolt on, requires drilling a few holes for the shock cross member, but the front link cross member replaces the factory bolt in one. All that needs to be welded on are the top link mounts to the rear axle. The kit is designed to be a 4" rear drop, with adjustability up and down. The truck can simply be returned to stock by unbolting everything and putting the leaf springs back in.
Damn beefed that's a purdy setup. How much does the QA1 nose setup run? Looks like it would fit a 75-78 hilux with ease. My LCAs already look like the modded bases.
So I installed some new 4x4 leaf springs, KYB monomax shocks all around, replaced the lower control arm on the driver side, new tail lights and a 4x4 grill. I still plan on some new rims, 4x4 fenders, new tint, and drop it as low as I can. Hopefully this will all be done this summer. Will get pictures up soon.
whats up man? you never posted up any pics of your taco after you did the leafs and stuff. Any updates?
