there is a guy out here that has an armada on hydraulics that use horizontally mounted coilovers on a cantilever arm. it's a really awesome setup that rides great. if i recall correctly these trucks need about 1 1/4" to have the rocker flush with the frame. i lost 1" with the new frame but left the 1/4" since i don't want the rockers to truly touch the ground. my usual ride height is around 1-2". i go over most anything on a decent road without issue but on a big bump my frame will just barely scrape. it all depends on your suspension setup though.
got the 2nd tub done and tacked in. bent the rest of the sheetmetal to finish it off. got the front rough cut.
thanks thanks. i haven't touched the runner in a long time. although we're talking about getting it going by a show here in February. today i got the rest of the big panels fit and tacked. just need to fit all the rounded corners in and start welding everything. i decided to cut out two of the bars that were too close to the new sheetmetal. just going to shorten them up slightly.
thanks. i imagine it's going to be a pain to remove the bed. it has to come straight up about 30" to come off. lol thanks
had a little cruise night to go to so i decided to get the seats mounted finally as well as paint the floors and put down fat mat.
Just went though 86 pages of awesomeness! I just found and bought (for $600) a '78 locally and I thought about this truck. This will definitely be my inspiration for my build. Keep it up!
thanks thanks man. the black pearl is coming along nicely as well! thanks. i've been in a rut since april. barely touched any of my projects. i really need to find some motivation.
Hey Bernie so you filled your floor with (Fat Mat)???? How is it? can you have a conversation or can you not tell a difference is the road noise? oh and where did you order it from and how much did it cost?
honestly the truck is so loud i've never heard road noise lol. i wear ear plugs when i drive it too. when i do have a passenger we talk but it's more like yelling. the fat mat did help a lot with the resonance that i was getting off all the sheet metal. it use to be unbearable at 75mph, now it's not bad. i'm planning to switch from the 40 series to the 50 series flowmaster. hopefully that will allow me to drive it without earplugs
Wow, just finished getting through those 86 pages of work and this is by far the most impressive build i've ever seen. Good job!
