My truck runs great on the highway but when I get off or get stuck in traffic the darn thing starts heating up. Granted the truck has 260k and it does burn oil and such but damn. Last time I had a problem like this but always overheating I changed the thermostat and burped it. What could this be?

What engine? transmission? 4wd? mods? recent repairs or other problems?

When was the last time you changed the coolant? how old is the thermostat? radiator? water pump? hoses? Is the coolant even full? Checked for signs of worn timing chain or head gasket problems?

Does having the AC on affect the overheating? how about the heater?

Right now, all we know is you have a truck and it's overheating at low speed but not high speed. could be a million things, including a simple thermostat+burping. I'd love to help but vague as heck question/info, vague as heck answer.
