    Hello,
Ganoga from NE PA here. I have owned a 1989 domestic short bed carburetor truck since 1997. Sadly, I am getting rid of it as the timing chain wore through the timing cover and it is a bit much for me to repair with other issues the truck has. My neighbor will be repairing it though and driving it. This was my favorite vehicle I've ever owned, and I actually hope to find another used one soon.

I ordered an Extang Tuff Tonneaue cover, new in the unopened box, model number 14880 if anyone is interested. It fits these trucks from 1989 to 1995. It was shipped the day before my truck problem occurred. To ship it back there is a 15% restocking fee plus the shipping cost, so I would sell it to anyone who wants it for $220. (picked up) It can be pickup up or delivered close to zip codes 17814, 17042, or 17837 as I am in these areas frequently.

Hopefully I will have another truck in the near future.

Ganoga The timing cover issue is pretty easy to fix.Don't give up on it yet.We can walk you through it.You are going to regret it when you see your neighbor driving it around.

    It's not a Toyota
If the other guys are saying it's fairly easy you should maybe give it a shot first. If you really do love the truck then do what it takes to keep it, right?

PLEASE Excuse me if I'm out of line here and I'll be the first to admit I don't own a Toyota truck YET and have only recently joined the TM community BUT...it sounds somewhat like a sales pitch for your very first post here. I have heard quite a few "personal accounts" and it just seems hasty or misguided to join a forum, talk about a truck you're getting rid of and offer to sell the members parts you want to get rid of. Again...I'm not being confrontational, I'm just making an observation I personally find odd. So...in short...Welcome to TM, get to know the place a little while, there's a TON of knowledge here. Maybe after you settle in you won't want to part with any of it. :waytogo:

thanks for all the input- I've actually just bought a brand new Tacoma and the 89 is for sale for $500. Someone can save it from the junk yard -

a member asked if the title was clear- yes it is, as I've owned the truck since 1997. There is a notary in Benton who can take care of the title transfer. It is a regular title- not a salvage.
I did forget to mention one thing- as I was parking the truck due to its problem, the driver door refused to open from both the inside and outside.
