I was having family time last Sunday and was only wearing swim trunks. My 2 year old's tractor was hanging up on bumps in the yard so him and I went into the shop to trim the front and rear for better entry & departure angles.

This took 10 seconds and then I dropped the grinder and it spun into my leg & toe. I called my wife out, she wanted to call 911 but I told her not to. I wrapped it and used duct tape. I was going to shrug it off, but limited foot movement concerned me.

Seems I somehow missed the tendons and arteries. I'm just glad it headed toward me and not my son. Crazy how something you do every day can turn for the worst so quick. Off to the emergency room I went.

It's common for grinders to remind you every now & then how dangerous they are.

    PICS
    1) Marks on floor & blood spots
2-4) Same day (small camera pics, sorry)
    5) 4 days later

Well normally I have full clothing, shoes, (none which would have helped here, but boots would have) and a grinding room, goggles, respirator, gloves, ear plugs, and hearing protection over the plugs.

This was just a 10 second Sunday plastic toy fix...that turned bad when I dropped the grinder from a couple feet and it spun out of control into my leg. We were getting ready to go into the swimming pool. Just a freak accident, I was moving too fast and should have slowed down.

I had a big mug of Porter with 3 beers in it waiting for me. I gave my wife 3 commands...#1, get a towel and my duct tape #2, don't call 911 #3, put my beer in the fridge.

These pics were taken just before the accident. I hadn't even got 3 sips in.

I'm glad you're ok and your son was out of harms way. On another note I last saw your son a few months old. He is growing up so fast! Just like my kids!
