i was wondering if anybody knows if its safe to pull my 78 yota with a tow bar like the kind you see being pulled behind motorhomes and and whatever. they are sometimes called toad vehicles or dinghys you get the point. im planning on moving soon and id like to load up the truck and just tow it behind my moving van. i have a universal tow par that i could use but i know not all cars can be used as tow vehicles so i was wondering any of you guys knew if it is ok to pull with all 4 wheels rolling. its a manual trans by the way. could i just pull the driveline off then the axle could turn freely with moving the trans?
As far as I know it's not bad for a manual trans. But if you pull the driveline, the trans may leak so maybe drain it too. Should be fine otherwise.
My grand-parents flat-towed their (now mine) 1977 toyota pickup all over the country behind their motorhome. Theres is no problem with it.
