hey again guys this is for my ac i hooked it up put freon and was cold i was just wondering if the idle suppose pick up or drop cause when i turn on my ac my idle drops to 700rpm.... i was reading online that the idle suppose to pick up when ac is on and something about a ac idle up screw is there any way to resolve this problem lmk thanks
When I still had my factory carb it had a vacuum solenoid that increased the idle with the a/c on. I believe it had a vacuum switch attached to it that was somehow powered when the a/c comes on. Here is what your looking for just trace the vacuum back and make sure its getting vacuum with a/c on from the vacuum switch. I think you can adjust the a/c idle somewhere. http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151702 ..
Simple. Supposed to be a vacuum solenoid on top of the valve cover. Two vacuum lines going to it. Basically it connects one of the vacuum lines from the throttle body, to the tee port on the upper intake, behind the cold start injector. When you turn your ac on, this solenoid is supposed to open and allow the air to pass through, in effect bypassing the throttle butterfly and dumping the extra air into the manifold via that tee I just mentioned. Extra air, extra rpm. Figure out which solenoid it is, or VSV, vacuum switching valve is what Toyota calls them, and just put 12 volts to it. If you can blow air through when you have the 12v on it, but not when you remove the 12volts its working. Put a test light on the wire to the VSV and push the ac button. The light on the test light should come on when the ac clutch kicks on. If not, circuit is broken somewhere.
His profile says he has the 22r, are you sure that applies to a carbed truck? Mine and all the ones I have seen have a solenoid that mechanically pulls on the throttle linkage at the carb.
People should make that clear, we shouldn't have to read anyone's profile in order to determine that.
I do not recall the way they were hooked up as I tore everything out like a mad man ... And getting the weber to like it is another story . I've seen guys take six feet of small vacuum line and run it in the cab when they wanted to turn the air on they un stopped the vacuum line idle raised enough to keep the car alive . These were not toyotas .... Keep in mine I don't condone this method but if your into it I've seen it work (it was true ghetto technology but dude didn't care ). It was hilarious to watch him pull a number a pencil out to plug it up
The power to the ac . Cutch yes .. Use moderate size wire to support the voltage and amperage. Wich isn't much . But use good quality wire ..
