1990 22r. In the past few days my truck has been radomly cutting fuel out. First it would just act like the throttle was pressed down but still ran and would pick back up. But then it would just die at idle or while driving. Put new fuel filter and pump on today. It ran awesome for about a half hour then the fuel started cutting out again. I havent noticed any fuel leaks any where. Any ideas? Maybe the ignition coil?

Kinda sounds like a igniter or coil getting hot and cutting out .
The mechanical fuel pump is very reliable and so is the carb if well kept couldn't see it acting or developing a runing out of fuel situation that wouldn't show itself right away . If the float bowl is full of gas .(sight glass) when it cuts off . Then probably looking at a spark problem ..if its hot outside and idling around in traffic or low speed the coil or the igniter maybe getting hot and shutting down onced cooled it fires again

Definitely getting fuel. I'm thinking its either the coil, distributor, or ignition control module. I'm going to go rob those parts off a 84 parts truck I have.

So after changing the coil and ignition module (off a parts truck), battery, drained old gas and put new in it just randomly dies. It doesnt matter if its at idle or with the throttle held wide open. At first it wouldnt die unless it was at idle. Im lost. Maybe the electronic piece in the dizzy or does the carb need rebuilt? HELP!!!
