My 32/36 is giving me problems. Just changed my base gaskets and now it seems I have a air leek in the idle screws. What to do??
Weber adapter plates are pretty flimsy . They warp easy .. I use heavy cork gasket material and cut a gasket myself ....the idle screws can be over tightened very easily .. Is it leaking around the threads
May carefully applie Teflon tape or a thread sealent or anti sieze spark plug stuff to the threads prefer liquid thread sealent for this carful to only get it on the threads and that may solve your problem posibly pick up some new ones . The threads on those things are soft and were down if removed a lot ...but that may hold ya for awhile
Use carb cleaner spray around the base of the adapter plate to manifold and adapter plate to carb there maid of pot metal and warp like no other . pretty much check all screws bolts and all jets
Common.I use those office folders that look like wood grain and cut out gaskets and put them on both sides of the adapter plate with a little permatex.
2 PIECE ADAPTERS SUCK! I won't run them unless I use JB weld as gasket material and then its on the intake forever. Otherwise I get the transdapt 1 piece weber adapter. Part #TRD-2120 for 20R on summitracing.com and they link to the 22R version on there. $45 thats well spent. Also a bit of a spacer/riser which always adds power.
As for the mixture screw leaking, like above stated some liquid sealer around a new screw is your best option. If that doesn't work you will need a new carb body base. I have a spare weber laying around my living room if you need parts.
I'm new to the carbs. Had a 88 22ret. Had to sell it to pay bills. Wish I never. Need to hunt down the guy I sold it to. I'll let you know if I need the Weber.
