took it for a good joy ride **** I love it now sway away and bling steins and drop leafs are the **** oh and drop spindles
Today I got the new head and block all cleaned up and ready to go together. Hopefully it all goes well. I also swapped the dash sliders for some I found on a 60s ford van. And switch knobs from a 70s dodge truck wiper switch. Check it out.
i yanked the bed off (with the help of the bro inlaws) to scrub the frame clean. going to coat it this coming weekend. also should be picking up a 5th (possibly 6th) starion wheel this weekend as well.
Converted to a regular F/R split brake system (No more LSPV...no point since I use the air shocks), all new steel lines except the LF and new stainless soft lines, and installed a new fuel pump bracket (dealership said last one in country, then realized it was gone when he tried to order it. ordered from ebay, said it WAS the last one there). Stops on a dime now or at least without the pedal going halfway down due to the 20+ year old rubber lines.
Finally got around to doing a valve adjustment. All intake valves were at least at .025. Yikes! Sounded like a sewing machine. Good to go now.
I adjusted my carb linkage.. Wasn't opening the secondary more then probably like 10%. Now it goes wide open, and a lot more fun!
Cross threaded the spark plug hole on the head. not bad, but enough to make a simple tune up to get emissions into a mess.
found out what the switch under the seat was. haha. finally put the interior back in and changed the knock off hub adapter to a celica hub adapter. way better quality.
Glad you fixed the carb on the hilux. And what kinda swap? Steering wheel it sounds like? Today I rechecked my valves and made a few other adjustments. No problems driving it around all day. Even got it run most of the way through 5th gear on the freeway. Ran out of room and had to let off at about 5000 rpm. Which with my gearing is about 102 lol. Plenty of power. Who wants to go racing in Monroe at the 1/8 mile drags next week?
shes looking great! i dont think we coulda did a better trade. im really loving how the gold and polished lips compliment the truck!
