Alright guys im picking up a 70 hilux the end of next month, things are already set in stone just don't have a way to get it until then. I went up and drove it this weekend, has the 8r-c and a 4 speed truck runs and drives great for its age and being the original engine, doesn't stop worth a **** tho. so the first things I want to address are a disc brake swap. im not sure where to start with this I hear mid to late 70s hilux parts will work but im not sure, and clarification would be great, the next thing that will be getting addressed is the stance, im thinking about going with coil overs front and rear. here are some pictures of how it looks now.

its getting the rear end and the 5 speed out of my 88 pickup unless I can find other ones soon enough, and im going to build a 2.6L stroker with a p&p head and sidedrafts for it. Also going to fix the few rust issues and the minimal body work and give it a paint job. I have a company that im pretty sure is going to make me a custom 4 link for the rear and tubular upper and lower control arms so I can easily convert to disc brakes and run drop spindles

your 88 rearend will be around 2" wider then the stock rear on this truck. just something to keep in mind. if you're looking for a different gear ration and they're the same size rear you could just swap the 3rd member.

If they are both the same size rear end. There was a 7.5" F code and an 8" G code. Same splines though. 2 and 4wd. They just had an extra lug stud on the 4wd axles. Sweet lux.

I can't remember where shelton is but if ya ever need a hand let me know. I'm pretty smart with these suspensions. Any 75-83 spindle will swap right on gaining disc brakes. You need to swap the master cylinder too. About 1980 they went from a 2 bolt booster to a 4 bolt, so that may need to change too depending what year master you find and if you get it new or used. The 81 booster is narrower which fits nicely. I've also heard sometimes the early steel rim hits the caliper so newer hilux wheels or something cooler in general might be in order. I have some stock steelies from my 78 if you need some.

I just looked at my 78, front line comes down to the frame and just goes into a T fitting to split to each front caliper. Rear valve is usually just below the master on the booster bolts. Also the bracket for the valve for a 2 bolt won't fit a 4 bolt masters lower holes unless you oval out the bracket holes a little. Or mount it with 1 bolt lol.
