well i just ordered a set of blocks on summit, and was wondering when i pull everything apart should i flip my overloads or take it out? im trying to go as low as i can. but i dont want to get everything back together just to be bummed out cause it would be two high. i work at a logging company so i can use the shop but only for one day. also am i going to have to run a small c notch or air shocks? it does already have spindles and 3" blocks now. also, what about the front? triming? im gonna do this on thursday since im laid-off rim+tire size 215-60-16 i think 7" rim -off newer mustang thanks guys ' '
id keep the overload, it will help prevent axl wrap and keep you from bottoming out on the frame. and removing it really doesnt do much to lower the truck. its below the main leaf so it has no effect on ride height unless your springs are junk. think you'll need to roll the front fenders and run 50 series at least, to clear.
Id keep the overload spring & take out the center leaf. Your proubly going to need to trim the center crossmember too cause the driveshaft might sit against it. Thats a common proubly with the standard cab trucks. As for a notch then thats all about how low you want to be. Ive got 4-inch blocks on the rear of my truck & Ive got a small 2.5 inch c-notch with airshocks too. Oh & one last thing...go with 50 series tires too cause youll rub really bad if you dont!
i was hoping to keep the tires caus there brand new at least for now, if i have to cut the inside fenders im cool with that. guess ill just replace blocks and get the front to sit level and try not to get to crazy with it yet kinda bums me out. sucks when you have the time and no money
hey man i'm runnin 4 inch blocks on about the same size tire. i had to shave the inside of the fender and have about an eighth of an inch or even less of room in between the rubber and fender, but on the front u'll lose a ton of turning and have to butcher everthing, so i'm rollin aroud dropped 4in in the back and nothing in the front untill i find new rims the c notch thing i didn't run into but i have an extended cab so my drives split good luck with the build man
thanks for all the info, it looks like im fine in the rear it was the front that i knew might give me trouble so im gonna do the 4x4 swap seems alot cheaper than tires im not a fan of 16' rims but the tires that came on it are brand new so im gonna get my $$ out of them then go to 17's getting the fenders&markers today!
