Before my truck would act up after long use and being hot but not overheatting. And now at 103º its acting up in mid drive does the efi have a choke system? Cause that's whatmI'm suspecting.
by "act up" what do you mean? does it run hot? overheating? poor performance as in acceleration? poor idle? be specific...
Resent plugs , oils getting a lil dark, I do have a code 27 wich is the second o2 sensor but that's it.
I bet its because your efi doesn't know the air is thinner because its hot, so it's not adjusting the fuel to be less.. Basically running rich because the mixture is off.. Your o2 sensor is probably causing it.
First you need to get the o2 fixed the first generations and examples Efi are not exactly top notch Older Efi systems don't have large parameters of fuel and timing you factor in a bad o2 sensor and extreme heat ... especially with modern ethanol fuels . The dead sensor can't communicate with the air/fuel and timing trims
Can the o2 sensor even prevent the truck to start? Cause that's what it's doing. It hesitates to start.
and a can of B-12 chemtool in the gas tank to let that stuff clean out your fuel system and injectors. trust me.
Rock auto has some good prices no lie about that but compare your local parts store denso price vs ordering one..........get it local return it local or compare old to new right at the parts counter ..just my two cents
Also if you have a brass radiator swap to aluminum. Exchanges the heat better. Lower temp thermostat helps let the heat out of the block earlier too.
I got the parts number from the Toyota dealership (call them up) and then use that to find the matching one on Rockauto. Toyota wanted $180 for the denso. I got it for $60 on Rockauto, same exact part, plug and play. (perfectly) and no problems since. It's also a Denso, not some pos Bosch.
Retract my previous statement I looked at autozone web page they want 100 bucks for a denso o2 rock has them for 60 ..so that's a no go .just do what cinnamon said get the part number and have at it
just looking out for you guys. When Toyota told me they wanted $180, I set out to find something much much cheaper.
If you have a code showing a problem----------------FIX IT!!! Secondly any thing effecting the fuel system( O2 sensor ),will effect the running of your truck!!!
