Having never done an engine swap on one of our pickups, I was wondering if the engine harness is separate from the chassis harness? I've ditched all of the factory EFI stuff at this point and was thinking of building my own custom harness to clean up part of the bay. Any input? The only thing that I think I'd need hooked to the engine are the AC clutch input, and the alternator wiring. The alternator wiring may be part of the chassis harness...? Anyone dealt with these questions yet?
as far as i can tell, your main fuse block on the pass side fender well is what powers everything in the truck, (lighting, cab elec, headlights etc) so i would see so long as you power the main block, you keep everything else powered like normal.... what are you looking to swap in?
I've decided to build a built 22re. But, am installing a T3/T4 on it. All forged internals, ported head, MegaSquirt ECU. In the process of installing the MS2, I've bypassed all of the factory engine harness, so I'm leaning towards deleting it all together, so long as I can figure out whether it's a viable option or not. I don't know if the AC control wiring is run in that harness though. I'm still running the factory AC... Engine comes out tomorrow night.
AC control runs through it as well as the alternator control wires. Wires that go to the C1 or C2 (don't remember which. big, square, white on my truck) connector next to the ECU.
